Amazing Lentil Burgers

I may never eat a beef burger again after making these! The flavor was AMAZING! Have open faced on whole grain toast or as a lettuce wrap to save on the carbs. Or, just eat on a bun with your regular hamburger toppings. No matter what, even the meat lovers won't be asking, "where's the beef?"

Makes 8 patties

2 cups of lentils (or one package of trader joes prepared lentils)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon of chili powder and cumin

salt and pepper to taste

½ oat flour or breadcrumbs

½ cup nutritional yeast

1 tablespoon worchester sauce

2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce

1 cup of rice (FYI warm rice works best)

1 egg


  1. Mix ingredients in a bowl.

  2. Form patties- about ⅓ cup of the mixture.

  3. Grill on medium heat for 8 minutes a side.

  4. In oven: Preheat temp to 375 use parchment paper and place patties 10 minutes a side

  5. In the electric skillet. Place patties in skillet, set temp to 300 (cover), flip at 8 minutes and cook at 200 for 10 more minutes.

  6. Serve with your favorite toppings. Freeze extra.
